Valentine's Day 2011

Since last year Bryan gave me a spectacular Valentines Day, this year I thought I could give him one.. however mind was a Valentines Day on a budget :)
It was defiantly hard to get everything organised, especially buying the food I needed.. since him and I always grocery shop together so I had to do it the day of. I thought a romantic picnic in our living room would be a great way to spend some time together. When Bryan got home from work I had a note on the back door with a blind fold, telling him to not peek and go upstairs and get ready. Then after his shower I had another note directing him to put on the clothes laid out for him and come downstairs. I had rose pedals all over the bed and leading to the living room, with the picnic all set up and candles all over. It looked so beautiful, and turned out great. I made broccoli salad, pasta salad, homemade panini's, sparkling juice, chocolate dipped strawberries, and a ice cream/cake desert. After we ate we watched a movie and just got to hang out. It was a perfect Valentines Day! Thank you Bryan for being my Valentine, I Love You!

Saying goodbye to Grandpa Falk

On Jan 23, 2011 Grandpa Falk passed away in the evening at 98 years old. We were very sad to hear this, but so happy he wasn't suffering and was now reuniting with his sweetheart. On Friday Jan 28th we all drove down the Lethbridge for the funeral. It was a remarkable service, I got to learn so much of the long life he lead, all his accomplishments and about the man he was. He was truly an example of how to lead a Christ like life, he helped so many people and showed such love towards all he met. I love you Grandpa and will miss you!
Not only was it an eventful service, but the grave site was eventful too, with my dad flinging himself into the hole once Grandpa was lowered down. He was trying to put some candies on top of the casket.. but then lost his glasses down the side and ended up kneeling on top the casket to reach down. It was honestly the funniest thing ever, and I'm positive Grandpa was laughing along with the rest of us. As if that wasn't enough drama for one day, back at the funeral home we were all having refreshments and Bryan started to choke on a drink. At first he said he was fine, but then he couldn't breath at all. It was the scariest thing ever, Uncle Alex ended up giving him the Heimlich maneuver and then he finally could breath.. along with some spit and puke. Thankfully he was okay.
That night we were all able to drive back home in safety even with the winter storm in our midst. And the rest of the weekend we were able to spend some time with Jesse & Lindsey, since they were able to come up for the funeral.

It's a BOY!!

My belly at about 22 weeks :)
The ultrasound was taken at 19 weeks
You can see he was trying to put his feet or knees in his mouth..

On Jan 20th, we had our detailing ultrasound, we got to not only see the baby for almost an hour, but find out he's a boy! It was so amazing to get to see him, and all his body parts and watch him move around. He was being really stubborn, he was hiding down in my right hip and the lady was having a hard time getting him to move. She did manage to get almost all of what she needed, but she couldn't get a great picture of his profile so we had to go back the following Tuesday to their main branch at Foothills. Once again he was stubborn and the lady couldn't get him to move from my right hip, so she had me shake my hips, empty my bladder and still nothing. So she left me in the room to walk and shake and squat for 10 minutes, then the Dr specialist guy came in and was able to get the picture. It was quite the ordeal, but everything turned out fine. He is entirely healthy and growing like a weed. We are so in love with him, and can't wait to finally get to meet him.

Stryder's Baptism!!

We started off the year with Stryder's baptism on Jan 8. Unfortunately it was a blizzarding day outside, which of course made it difficult to make it to his baptism. Funny how when something as big and important as choosing to be baptised is being made, the opposition works in any way to discourage it - even through the weather. Anyhow, we all made it and were able to wittiness a beautiful baptism and confirmation. I still can't believe Stryder is already 8 years old, seems like he was just a little baby. We are both so proud of the decision Strdyer made, and hope he always listens to the still small voice, and guidance it will give him throughout his life.

After the baptism we went to Clayton & Tasha's for some pizza, birthday cake, and Stryder to open some presents.

New Years

This year we rung in the new year with some friends. They had a fondue party with a bunch of people and invited us. Dinner was really good, it was my first fondue party and I really enjoyed it. Afterwards we played some games... we even just about missed the new year because we were to busy playing a game. Afterwards Bryan and I came home and had a little toast with some sparkling apple juice. It was a fun night. And I still can't believe how fast 2010 went.
