Half a Ginger Bread House

A couple Mondays ago after the snowy blizzard Bryan and I both started home from work. We took a snow day.. and began making our ginger bread house. Bryan didn't want just any ordinary house.. he wanted it to be a mansion... from scratch.. so we found a picture online and had to figure out the sizes etc. It took us around 4 hours to make the dough, roll it all out, cut the pieces and bake them all. It was so much work. We put together the bottom half of the house and a bit of the top half.. but needed to let it dry. We were suppose to finish the rest in the next couple days... but that didn't happen. So our attempt at making a ginger bread mansion was a failure. In our defence it really is allot of work. .. Maybe next year we wont aim so high. But we did have fun doing it.

Busy Month

Well this month and Year is just about over... and my last post was beginning of November oops. I guess I got a little behind. The first weekend in Dec was a pretty busy one. First off on the Thursday I had my relief society Christmas get together, and since I'm on the planning committee I'm obligated to go .. lucky me. No actually it's good, we had a fun time planning it and a fun time there. But I had to make enough treats for 60 people.. So I decided to make Bryan's Grandmas peanut butter balls... and well they are messy and oh so yummy.. so Bryan wanted me to make extra for him so we had even more left over... I'm pretty sure I can't ever eat another one :S
On Friday mother nature decided we needed lots of snow and cold weather here. So it started blizzard early in the morning and lasted just about till Sunday. The snow was crazy.. so many accidents and people getting stuck. Luckily we have great neighbours who decided to shovel the whole alley so no one would be stuck this year. We played in the snow a bit, and even Saphire came out.. however she was not very impressed with the snow.. especially when it was in her face. Saturday it was still snowing but not nearly as much. We decided to head to superstore for a couple things and the parking lot was crazy.. tons of vehicles just abandoned in the ditch, or in a snow drift. And just an FYI even when a snow pile looks pretty soft like you can just push the cart through it... chances are.. Its not.
That night was Bryan's work Christmas party down at the Zoo. It was pretty fun, we had dinner, chatted, danced a bit, won the party lite centre piece, some work shirts, and other random items..
It was a good night.. and even better when we were home safe and off the crazy roads, with horrible drivers.

Special Dinner - Nov 7th

Since I had some time alone while Bryan was gone at camp I decided to make a special dinner for him when he got back. To let him know how proud I am of him for doing so great in his calling as the Deacons young men's advisor. And for going on his first young men's camp. I am SO glad he had a good time, and really happy he is enjoying his calling, and of course getting to experience young men's since he didn't when he was young.
For dinner I made one of his favorites; crock pot chicken, with broccoli, rice and salad, dad's special drink, and for desert a brownie treat. It all turned out good.. minus the brownie treat.. the brownies were a little dry ( but they were store bought so.. meh it saved me time making them :O ) . And to end the night we watched Scout Camp (an LDS movie production.. which was pretty lame.. but went good with the weekend)

Cinderella Moscow Ballet

Monday Nov 9th Bryan and I went to see Cinderella by the Moscow Ballet. I had been looking forward to this for months.. I didn't really know what to expect, since I have never been to a Ballet before.. I've only seen really good local dancers at competitions. It was held at the Jubilee Auditorium, and our seats were pretty good, first balcony, third row up, in the centre. I thought it was absolutely amazing and loved it SO much.. Bryan on the other hand found it long.. but that is to be expected. Sadly your not allowed any pictures so I didn't get any shots, just some pictures from the Internet. It was cute the theatre was full of little girls wearing fancy dresses with their curled.
It was even better that they give 20 parts to local dancers who try out, ages 5 - 20. So their were some little children in it, and wow were they good too.. I couldn't believe the attention span those little kids had considering their age. All in all it was a great night :)
Thanks Bryan for buying me tickets and taking me !

Young Men's Camp - Nov 6 & 7

The first weekend in November Bryan got to experience his very first Young Men's Camp. Lucky for him it wasn't too cold out, especially since they didn't have tents.. instead they had hand made shelters. It wasn't a very long camp just Friday afternoon till Sunday evening. They had to walk into the camp which was only suppose to be a 5 minute walk, but since it was dark when they arrived, they got lost and ended up walking for an hour :O After getting their shelters ready they ate dinner, had a fire... Saturday the leaders made the boys breakfast.. and from what I understand it was made by improvising since they forgot/didn't have some supplies. They also went zip lining for a bit, tried crossing a river with a nylon rope bridge, and played some games in the woods.. ya know boy stuff (meaning whipping tennis balls at the boys...).
Bryan had a really fun time and is excited for the February camp in the SNOW!! (ok well kinda excited)
I did pack a camera for Bryan.. but he neglected to use it..so no pictures :(

Oh ya and this camp all the boys were not allowed to have their mom's pack anything for them.. so I guess some of the dinners the boys brought were pretty interesting.. and also the items the boys forgot to pack.. haha

Halloween 2009

This halloween we decorated pretty late.. we did some decorations last weekend, then finished the rest halloween day. The night before we found some plywood from the dumpsters around our house :O and then spray painted them with paint that glows under a black light. We changed all our pot lights to black lights, had our fog machine and strobe light going, along with some halloween music. It looked pretty neat. Everyone seemed to like it, we had ALOT of people taking pictures of their kids in front of our yard.. and then some just taking pictures of our yard. Some little kids were a little scared and didn't want to go up our steps :(

The kids came over to show up their costumes, they all looked sooo adorable.

Later that night we had some friends over to watch some scary movies. It was a pretty fun halloween. Kinda nice and quiet. . .

Easton & Ireland Sleep over !!

We hadn't seen Easton & Ireland in a while so we had them sleepover. They came over last friday night. They helped us do some halloween decorating, putting spider webs on the trees. Easton we Bryan's little helper, getting him the grave stones and different body parts. They both did really good. Ireland kept finding more lady bugs and was more interested in them, than decorating. Later we baked some halloween shaped cookies. The kids helped cut out the shapes, ice them and of course eat them... After eating cookies Easton and Ireland played with some dolls for a bit.. yes I said dolls. Easton wanted to play with them too.. it was really cute. Then we went to bed. They both slept in the spare room and they chatted for a bit (which was sooo cute) then they went to bed. It was super fun having them over.
